Pakistan all set to launch new satellite PakSat MM1 tomorrow

Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) is all set to launch a new satellite PakSat MM1 tomorrow (May 30) through the support of China, in accordance with the National Space Program 2047.

The Project Management Team of Paksat MM1 has finalised all the arrangements for the launch of this new satellite through evaluating its performance. 

Project Director, PakSat MM1, M. Imran said “Our team is very excited for the upcoming launch of PakSat MM1 on May 30”.

The satellite PakSat MM1, conceived keeping in sight the growing needs of the country in the broad spectrum of communication and connectivity, would be launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC), China.

This satellite project is a hallmark of technological cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Pakistan and is expected to revolutionise communication in Pakistan and serve as a giant leap towards a digitally connected Pakistan.

Based on advanced communication technologies, PakSat MM1 will play a pivotal role in the socio-economic uplift of the country and will prove to be a stepping stone in the transformation of the country into Digital Pakistan.

The launch ceremony will be shown live for media from the Islamabad and Karachi establishments of Suparco.

The satellite is expected to contribute to the establishment of a sophisticated communication network and help meet the growing demands of the telecom sector and its advanced capabilities will address the increasing demand for high-speed internet and seamless connectivity.

SUPARCO says “This high-power multi-mission satellite will provide communication services in C, Ku, Ka Bands and SBAS services in L Band. Based on advanced communication technologies, PakSat-MM1 will play a pivotal role in the socio-economic uplift of the country.

It will prove to be a stepping stone in the transformation of the country into Digital Pakistan. It will provide various communication services like broadband internet, TV broadcasting, Mobile bank –hauling and VSAT connectivity”.

Project Manager MM-1, SUPARCO, Usman Iftikhar, said that the primary objective behind the PAKSAT MM-1 satellite is to strengthen Pakistan’s communication infrastructure would pave the way for broadening the horizons for connectivity, serving the unserved, Tele-education, E-health/Tele-medicine, E-governance and E-commerce while transforming Pakistan into a digital powerhouse.

He said that communication infrastructure is the backbone of any country and plays an important role in the development of the country and this satellite will help provide connectivity to the remote areas of the country. This satellite is a communication satellite that will be sent in a Geostationary Orbit.

Earlier, Pakistan’s historic lunar mission (ICUBE-Q) was launched on May 3 on board China’s Chang’E6 from Hainan, China. The satellite iCube-Qamar mission marked Pakistan’s first lunar exploration effort which is a significant milestone for the country’s space endeavours.

The satellite iCube-Q was designed and developed by the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in collaboration with China’s Shanghai University SJTU and Pakistan’s national space agency SUPARCO.

The satellite, weighing about 7kg, was developed by the Electrical Engineering Department of the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in Islamabad. The satellite successfully captured and transmitted its inaugural images from lunar orbit, providing a unique perspective of the moon’s surface.

Regarding the benefits of satellites, Suparco said that satellites play a vital role in improving communication, enhancing navigation, monitoring the environment, advancing scientific knowledge, and supporting various aspects of daily life, making them indispensable for humanity’s progress and well-being.

Satellites are incredibly beneficial for humanity in communication, navigation, weather forecasting, earth observations, scientific research, disaster management, remote sensing, and telemedicine.

Three types of satellites are required for any country, firstly for communication, secondly for remote sensing and reconnaissance, and thirdly for navigation.

NAB probes Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi in new Toshakhana reference

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team, headed by Deputy Director Mustansar Imam Shah probed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in the new Toshakhana reference at Adiala Jail.

According to jail sources, today marks the seventh day of the NAB team’s investigation at Adiala Jail and the NAB team will present a progress report on the investigation in court tomorrow.

The NAB team is working to gather information and evidence related to the case.

Sources revealed that the court has ordered the reappearance of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi on July 22.

It is pertinent to note that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are on eight-day judicial remand in new Toshakhana reference.

NAB TOSHAKHANA REFERENCE

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were arrested in a NAB Toshakhana reference, hours after their acquittal in the Iddah nikah case.

According to jail sources, Imran Khan and his wife were arrested for not cooperating in the inquiry.

A NAB team headed by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon reached Adiala Jail to arrest the former prime minister and his wife in new case.

The sources said that the new case was related to keeping and selling the ten valuable gifts which was against the law.

According to the NAB inquiry report, the PTI founder is accused of taking and selling seven precious watches which include Rolex, diamonds, and gold watches. The gifts were sold without taking ownership as per the law.

FO strongly condemns attack on Pakistan consulate in Germany

Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack by a gang of extremists on its consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the foreign office conveyed strong protest to the German government over the failure of its authorities to protect the sanctity and security of the premises of Pakistan’s consulate.

The statement mentioned the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963 under which it is the responsibility of the host government to protect the sanctity of the consular premises and ensure the security of diplomats.

The foreign office added that in yesterday’s incident, the security of Pakistan’s consulate in Frankfurt was breached, endangering the lives of its consular staff.

It urged the German government to take immediate measures to fulfil its responsibilities under the Vienna Conventions and ensure the security of the diplomatic missions and staff of Pakistan in Germany.

The foreign office also urged the German authorities to take immediate measures to arrest and prosecute those involved in yesterday’s incident and hold to account those responsible for the lapses in security.

The citizens of Afghanistan had pelted stones on the Pakistani consulate and pulled down flag atop the building in Germany’s city Frankfurt.

According to media, the German authorities had allowed Afghan citizens to hold a peaceful protest outside the consulate. But the protesters went berserk and tried to enter the consulate building. They also tried to set the Pakistani flag to fire.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was involved in the Bannu incident.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, he said that PTI has been pursuing an agenda of creating uncertainty in the country to derail economy from the day one.

The minister said creating instability in the country is PTI’s manifesto, which is evident from the fact when its workers attacked the Pakistan Television (PTV) building in Islamabad in 2014. He said it has always promoted the politics of violence and using abusive language against opponents.

Attaullah Tarar said they always look for dead bodies to unleash propaganda against the government, police and security forces.

He said the incidents of May 9 last year were orchestrated in search of 50 to 60 dead bodies with an aim to derail the entire system and spread anarchy in the country. He said that PTI is not a political party but a terrorist organisation.

Attaullah Tarar said that traders of Bannu had organised a peace march and some political parties, including the PTI, secretly inserted their armed goons to sabotage the event. He said those armed people opened fire, killing a citizen and injuring 22 others.

The minister said now the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government intends to conduct an inquiry of its own choice into the incident, which we reject. He questioned how you can conduct an inquiry when your own people are involved in the Bannu incident.

On Friday, public in Bannu district came out on streets, demanding peace and security against surge in terrorism.

However, the situation escalated when clashes erupted between protesters and law-enforcement agencies as a result of which several people were injured and one died.

Tarar also refuted the reports of PTI founder Imran Khan being kept in the death cell in jail.

“He is being kept in the presidential suite with lot of facilities including separate kitchen, exercise machine and a special gallery for walk,” said Tarar.
