Dubai expat killed in Colombo’s Shangri-La Hotel blast this morning


A UAE inhabitant holidaying in Sri Lanka was among those killed in the sequential attacks in Colombo on Sunday.

P.S. Razeena, 60, was killed in a bomb impact in an inn hours after her significant other, Abdul Kader Kukkady, left for Dubai, the Indian lady’s cousin revealed to Gulf News over the telephone from Kerala.

The couple, who lived in Jumeirah Lake Towers in Dubai, was on vacation seeing relatives, said Razeena’s cousin Nazir P.S. Mohammad, who is a previous Dubai inhabitant.

“They went on a vacation excursion to Sri Lanka. Her own sibling lives in Colombo,” said Nazir, who currently lives in Kerala’s Kasaragod area.

“On Friday evening, they checked in [to] Hotel Shangri-La. Her better half returned to Dubai toward the beginning of today. She should look at and return to Mangalore [India], where they are settled.” She was getting a quick breakfast at the inn before her planned flight this evening.

A bomb blast tore through Shangri-La around breakfast time.

After achieving Dubai, Abdul Khader, CEO at Olam International, found out about the stunning news and returned a trip to Colombo, said Nazir.

“It’s painful… exceptionally stunning,” said a crushed Nazir who grew up with Razeena.

He said their group of Sri Lankan birthplace had moved to India quite a few years back.

“Our own is a joint family. We lived in a similar house and concentrated in a similar school. She had visited us only two months back for my nephew’s wedding,” he said.

Her cousin Zakir Ahmad, who is additionally situated in Dubai, said he was stunned by the news.

Razina who was initially a Sri Lankan national was hitched to Abdul Khader, from Mangalore. The couple lived in Libya and Bahrain before moving to Dubai two years back. The couple’s child and little girl live in the US, Ahmad included.
