CHRISTCHURCH (News Desk) – Pakistan tour of New Zealand suffered another blow when the first four-day match between Pakistan and New Zealand A was called off on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, the decision was taken at the request of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The PCB has requested to change of dates of the first four-day match or cancellation of match due to delay in players practice ahead of the T20I and Test series against the home side as the Pakistani squad is in Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ).
Pakistan team will depart to in Queenstown on December 8 but every player will need the local health ministry s approval before travelling. On arrival in Queenstown, both senior team and Pakistan Shaheens will stay in separate hotels.
Sources also said that Pakistan will now play a series of intra-squad matches in Queenstown from December 10-13.
Eight members of the Pakistan squad have so far been tested positive for COVID-19 after reaching New Zealand. Two of the original eight cases were subsequently found to be historical, meaning they were not infectious.
