Omar Sarfraz Cheema sent on 14-day judicial remand

An anti-terrorism court on Thursday sent former Punjab governor and PTI leader Omar Sarfraz Cheema to a 14-day judicial remand after he had been arrested in vandalism case a day ago.

Judge Abhar Gul heard the case and the police produced Mr Cheema and 12 others before the court. The court remanded 12 accused on a seven-day judicial remand for investigation.

Earlier, an Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab had arrested Mr Cheema. According to anti-corruption officials, Mr Cheema had been arrested from his residence early in the morning.

Mr Cheema had been accused of misusing his powers as governor and giving his sister a share by forging the family registration certificate.

According to the family of the PTI leader, ‘unknown’ men in plain clothes took Mr Cheema into custody. They did not inform on which charges they took Omar Cheema into custody, the family added
