A special meeting of the federal cabinet, summoned on Friday to review the current political and economic situation of the country, is under way.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is presiding over the meeting.
It is learnt that violence and losses following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan will also be reviewed during the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will also meet at 3pm to review the situation in the country.
A day earlier (Thursday), the prime minister summoned the National Security Committee meeting to discuss the situation but later postponed it and it will now be held on May 16.
