The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) convened a meeting on Thursday, chaired by Noor Alam Khan, to discuss and take action against perceived interference by the United States, United Kingdom, and India in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
As a result, the committee decided to write a letter to the respective governments, expressing concerns over their alleged involvement.
During the meeting, Noor Alam Khan, Chairman of the PAC, directed officials from the foreign ministry to draft and send the letters to the ambassadors of the United States, the United Kingdom, and India.
The purpose of these letters is to urge these nations to refrain from interfering in Pakistan’s internal matters.
Noor Alam Khan emphasised that the United States, the United Kingdom, and India themselves do not tolerate foreign interference, making it pertinent to question the extent to which the U.S. congress can intervene in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
He highlighted the ongoing propagation against Pakistan and its institutions originating from abroad.
Furthermore, Chairman Noor Alam Khan argued that the actions of the United States and the United Kingdom, in particular, violated the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.
He sought clarification from foreign ministry officials regarding the steps taken to address these concerns and prevent interference by the aforementioned countries.
The PAC, in addition to requesting the letters, directed officials from the ministry of external affairs to provide a copy of their responses on the Indus Water Treaty.
