There have been a number of recent incidents of sexual assault and harassment in Karachi. In the latest incident, a lady experienced sexual harassment in a suburb in Karachi.
On August 1, a woman wearing a burqa was sexually harassed by a guy driving a motorbike as she crossed a roadway in a community close to Madina Masjid in Federal B Area Block 17.
The event, which happened at 10:55 am, was documented on video. CCTV footage clearly identified the offender, who left without difficulty when the victim resisted and called out for aid.
After the event, onlookers gathered, but the harasser got away before he could be caught.
Once more, the cops were unable to apprehend the culprit.
They said that neither the victim in the case nor anybody else had contacted them to begin an inquiry into the situation.
They claimed that video from additional cameras located nearby was being collected.
Since the first reported instance of street harassment, a worrying pattern of harassment of women in the city has persisted.
In broad daylight, a guy was seen on video pestering a veiled lady in a Gulistan-e-Jauhar suburb.
A second incident of a similar type, in which a guy harassed a woman in Orangi Town, occurred after the first.
The suspect in the Orangi Town incident was apprehended by police, while the perpetrator of the Jauhar crime is still at large.
