Special Secretary Establishment Division Waseem Mukhtar is likely to be appointed as the Chairman of National electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) by the federal government.
Sources said on Wednesday that the federal government has finalized the name of Wasim for the post.
Wasim is Special Secretary in Establishment Division of Pakistan Administrative Service.
According to sources, the cabinet is likely to approve his posting through a notification today.
Wasim has already served as Pepco and Central Power Purchasing Agency managing director.
Sources said that a selection committee picked Wasim from three candidates for the post. The other two were former MD CPPA Abid Lodhi and Nepra member from Sindh Rafiq Shaikh.
It may be noted that the present Chairman of Nepra, Tauseef Farooqui, assumed charge on Aug 5, 2019.
