ICC World Cup: Shubman Gill to miss matches against Pakistan, Afghanistan

The cricket-lovers will feel the absence of top Indian striker Shubman Gill in the high-powered clash between Pakistan and India as the batter is hospitalized due to the dengue fever.

The batter contracted the virus a couple of days ago and now his condition has worsened as doctors detected in the reports that his platelet count is low. Gill was shifted to a hospital in Chennai on Monday. The Indian cricket board medical panel is overseeing his treatment.

Gill is expected to miss two matches first against Afghanistan on 11 Oct and against Pakistan to be held On Oct 14 in Ahmedabad.

Earlier, he also missed a match against Australia, which was India’s opening match of this World Cup.

The current year has brought blessings for Gill as he turned up the chief scorer in one-day internationals making the Indian batting line stronger. Cricket-fans love the opening pair of Gill and Rohit Sharma.
