Senator Sherry Rehman said on Wednesday traces of heavy pollution in the air of the city even before the inception of the winter this year was a serious cause of concern.
In a statement, the senator said the air quality index of the city had crossed 200 mark which was dangerous and harmful for the citizens especially for the sick, children and elderly people.
“The bad air quality of the city is due to the lack of rains in the region and there are fears that the smog will increase in the coming days. Closures of the city, however was not the exact remedy for the issue,” she clarified.
