Writer and columnist Fatima Bhutto has slammed Israel for its genocide in Gaza where hundreds of children have been killed by the Israeli forces.

It all started when Israel’s official X account managed by the Israel Foreign Ministry’s Digital Diplomacy team shared a post on the Pakistan versus India World Cup match played last week.

It quoted a post shared by Naor Gilon, the ambassador of Israel to India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. An Indian man was seen holding a poster in the stadium inscribed with the slogan “India stands with Israel”.

“We were really moved by Indian friends showing their solidarity with Israel. We are happy that India emerged victorious in the India versus Pakistan match at Cricket World Cup 2023 and that Pakistan was unable to attribute its victory to the terrorists of Hamas,” said the post shared by Israel. It was in reference to the match India won by seven wickets against Pakistan in Ahmedabad.

“Happy to lose cricket games till the end of time if the alternative is being publicly cheered by a genocidal state that murdered 724 children in 7 days,” said Bhutto who is also the granddaughter of Pakistan’s former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

It came after Pakistani batter Muhammad Rizwan had dedicated his superb innings against Sri Lanka to the people of Gaza.

Rizwan was given the player of the match award for his remarkable century against Sri Lanka.
