The US President Joe Biden secured a victory in the Democrat party’s primary voting in New Hampshire Tuesday, despite his absence as chairman of the party Ray Buckley termed the win “overwhelming”.

“Despite President Biden’s absence from the ballot, Granite Staters still turned out in robust numbers to show their support for the great work that the Biden-Harris Administration has done to grow the economy, protect reproductive freedoms, and defend our democracy,” Buckley wrote.

“Once again, New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary made history — and we are proud as ever.”

Joe Biden’s decision not to participate in the primary came as the Democratic National Committee downgraded early-voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire in favor of states like South Carolina, Nevada, Georgia and Michigan, which according to the party are more accurately represented the party’s diversity, reported CNN.

The 81-year-old President emerged the victor in an unofficial write-in campaign, encouraging the Democrats to go to the elections to express their support to Biden.

Separately, former president Donald Trump won the New Hampshire Republican primary Tuesday, giving a knockout blow to his opponent Nikki Haley.

Earlier, Donald Trump underscored his support in New Hampshire saying that the people “are going to all vote for me again.”

Congratulating the former president’s win, Haley said she is staying in the race.

“I want to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory tonight. He earned it, and I want to acknowledge that,” the 52-year-old former South Carolina governor said.

But the race is “far from over”, she said, as some states are left to vote.

“I have news for all of them: New Hampshire is first in the nation. It is not last in the nation,” Haley said.

Reacting to the former president’s win, President Joe Biden’s campaign said Tuesday that the result of the Republican primary confirms that Donald Trump has “all but locked up” the 2024 GOP nomination.

“Tonight’s results confirm Donald Trump has all but locked up the GOP nomination, and the election-denying, anti-freedom MAGA movement has completed its takeover of the Republican Party,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.

The statement also added: “Donald Trump is headed straight into a general election matchup where he’ll face the only person to have ever beaten him at the ballot box: Joe Biden.”
