Rains, snowfall in parts of country add chill to weather

Rains and snowfall in different parts of the country has added chill to weather.

Rain in the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi, added severity to the prevailing weather conditions.

Different areas of Lahore experienced light rain which improved the foggy conditions. Areas of Lahore which received light rain on Wednesday morning were Garhi Shahu, Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shimla Pahari, Baghbanpura, Mughalpura, Gwalmandi, Railway Station and Lorri Adda.

Whereas several other parts of the city also received drizzling. These areas include Chauburji, Anarkali, Mozang, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Gajjumata and Kahna.
Climate department said westerly wave was affecting the country which will persist till Feb 4.

The provincial capital will continue experiencing intermittent rains till Feb 4. The city temperature is likely to remain in 12-14 degree centigrade range.

On third consecutive day on Wednesday, Galyat continued experiencing rain and snowfall. Upper peaks of Galyat have received 9 inches snowfall so far. Minimum temperature was recorded as -4 while maximum temperature was 1.

In Kyber Pakhtunkhwa, mountains of Shogran, Sri Paya, Makra were blanketed with snow. Four feet snowfall was recorded in Naran, Saiful Maluk and Lulusar Lakes.

The Met department said rains and snowfall will continue on mountains in next few days.

As per Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) rains, snowfall and land sliding could block roads. The PDMA also advised the tourists to be careful and cautions during rains and snowfall season.

Met Office said rain and snowfall over mountains was expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Islamabad, Upper Punjab and Kashmir during the next 12 hours.

Fog was likely to prevail at few places in south Punjab and upper Sindh.

Temperature of major cities recorded on Wednesday morning:
Islamabad 10 degree centigrade, Lahore 11, Karachi 21, Peshawar 8, Quetta 5, Gilgit and Murree 1 and Muzaffarabad 7 degree centigrade.

According to weather forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, cloudy weather with chances of intermittent rain and snow was expected in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramula.

However, cloudy weather is expected with chances of intermittent rain in Jammu.
