Terrorists from Afghanistan arrested in operation near Pak-Afghan border

Pakistani security forces have arrested four terrorists who infiltrated from neighbouring Afghanistan after a successful operation near the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan.

Security sources said on Thursday that the forces conducted an operation on Wednesday in Toba Kakri, an area near the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan, and arrested the terrorists. Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and other firearms were recovered from their possession, they added.

The terrorists confessed to planning a major terrorist operation in Pakistan during investigations, they said and added it was another evidence of terrorists’ infiltration into Pakistan from Afghanistan.

According to sources, in recent past, the involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist incidents in Pakistan gradually increased. Terrorist organisations have been receiving full support, facilitation and patronage from the Afghan Taliban, they continued.

Meanwhile, an arrested terrorist identified himself as Isamuddin son of Gulshad, an Afghan national. He told investigators that he, along with three others, entered Pakistan three days ago and went to Pishin.

According to security sources, the locals played an important role in the arrest of the terrorists.

The arrested terrorists were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

Earlier, many Afghan terrorists have been killed by the forces. Among these killed Afghan terrorists was Khakri Badruddin, the son of the governor of the Afghan province of Badghis.

The sources said that Afghan terrorist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, who was killed on February 28, was a commander at the Hazrat Muaz bin Jabal National Military Academy in Afghanistan.

The defense experts called it a welcome development that the local people are fighting alongside the security forces against the terrorists. They were concerned about the use of Afghan soil by the terrorist organisations.

They said that Afghanistan has become a haven for terrorists and called for an immediate action at the international level against the terrorists. Despite Pakistan repeatedly providing evidence to Kabul, the silence of the Afghan interim government is actually supporting the terrorists.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has instructed Adiala Jail authorities to obtain and submit former prime minister Imran Khan’s signed power of attorney in court.

Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas heard a contempt of court petition regarding the non-provision of power of attorney and denial of meetings with Imran Khan. Lawyer Shoaib Shaheen appeared personally, while a representative from Adiala Jail also attended the hearing.

During the proceedings, Shoaib Shaheen argued that over 200 cases were pending, and without signed power of attorney, they could not proceed with legal matters. When questioned, the Adiala Jail representative stated that they had no such documents in their possession.

Shaheen informed the court that the jail superintendent had previously contacted him, stating they could now process the documents. However, despite multiple visits and follow-ups, the signed documents were never returned.

Justice Minhas directed the lawyer to resubmit the documents, instructing the jail authorities to return them by the next day. The court also ordered Adiala Jail officials to submit a report regarding the matter.

The hearing was adjourned until tomorrow (Wednesday).
