Taylor Swift, the heartthrob of millions, is now a billionaire

American pop star Taylor Swift – who is a heartthrob of millions, if not billions – is now a billionaire, with a “conservative” estimated value of $1.1 billion, as the music diva continues to attract music lovers around the world, thus boosting her revenues.

A Bloomberg report has taken into account her earnings from the ongoing Eras tour, which started on Mar 17 and will end on Sept 23, with a total 56 shows, making her one of the few recording artists to build a 10-figure fortune almost entirely from her music.

But it is not just her personal fortunes as the report says Swift, who is just 33, helped adding $4.3bn to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) through the US lag of the Eras tour.

ALREADY A BEACON

But before gaining the billionaire status, Swift is already a legend and being taught to students at Ghent University in Belgium after a Elly McCausland decided earlier this year to mastermind a course to start in September inspired by Swift’s work after listening to “The Great War”, also from “Midnights”.

The course is very popular and McCausland has received requests to join from outside the university, even via private messages on Instagram.

DISAPPOINTED ‘SWIFTIES’

Reuters reported Saturday that the owners of Notts County played down a report that they could sell the English League Two soccer club to American pop star Taylor Swift, saying in a playful social media post on Friday that they would “Shake this story off”.

Owners Chris and Alex Reedtz said they were sorry to “disappoint the Swifties in our fanbase” in a message posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, which was laden with Swift song titles.

“There’s certainly no bad blood between ourselves and Taylor but, at such an exciting time for us and the club, she surely couldn’t have believed in her wildest dreams that we would relinquish our control,” they wrote.

“We’ll leave a blank space in tomorrow’s pre-match playlist for a track from her newly re-released 1989 album as a gesture of gratitude for her interest.”

Spoof newspaper The Weekend Sport reported that Swift was keen to buy Notts County, the world’s oldest professional football club, following in the footsteps of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney who own English fourth-tier club Wrexham.

“Bad Blood”, “Shake it Off”, “Blank Space” and “Wildest Dreams” are songs on Swift’s album “1989”.
