Ezra Miller gets fine, probation after home break-in

Published

on

Actor Ezra Miller pleaded guilty Friday to a charge stemming from a break-in and theft of alcohol at a neighbor’s home in Vermont, one of a string of arrests and reports of erratic behavior last year that stretched from Hawaii to New England.

Miller, who appeared in several “Justice League” movies and stars in the upcoming film “The Flash,” agreed that by entering the plea and abiding by the conditions, they would avoid a three-month jail sentence for a misdemeanor charge of unlawful trespass, but pay a $500 fine and a court fee, get a year of probation, and abide by a number of conditions including continued mental health treatment.

Two other charges were dropped, including a felony burglary count that could have carried a sentence of 25 years in prison, but Vermont Superior Court Judge Kerry Ann McDonald-Cady told Miller the felony charge could be refiled if they fail to abide by the details of probation.

During the nearly 30-minute hearing in Bennington, Miller, 30, answered the judge’s questions but declined to make a statement. However, after the hearing, Miller’s attorney, Lisa Shelkrot, sent a statement on the actor’s behalf.

“Ezra would like to thank the court and the community for their trust and patience throughout this process, and would once again like to acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be a vital presence in their ongoing mental health,” the statement said.

Miller pleaded not guilty in October to stealing liquor from a neighbor’s home in Vermont. State police responded to a burglary complaint in Stamford on May 1 and found that several bottles of alcohol had been taken while the homeowner was away.

The homeowner said he had been friends with Miller for about 18 years and bought the home a year and half ago in Stamford, where Miller also had a home, according to the police affidavit. Miller was charged after police consulted surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses.

Miller was arrested twice last year in Hawaii, including for disorderly conduct and harassment at a karaoke bar.

Zara Hatke director on not casting Katrina Kaif: 'Don't think she can look like a middle class family ki bahu

Zara Hatke Zara Bachke features Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal as the lead pair. Now, the film’s director has spoken about not casting Katrina Kaif in film.

Laxman Utekar, who is all geared up for his next release Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, has reacted to a question on casting actor Katrina Kaif in his film. In a new interview, Laxman revealed why he couldn’t feature Katrina opposite her husband-actor Vicky Kaushal in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.

Laxman said that he didn’t feel that Katrina can essay the role of a ‘middle-class joint family daughter-in-law’.

In Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Sara Ali Khan will be seen opposite Vicky Kaushal. Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan will present Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, slated to release in cinemas on June 2. Set in Indore, the film is a romantic comedy which follows the life of a middle-class married couple Kapil (Vicky) and Somya (Sara), who are seemingly headed for a divorce.

In an interview, Laxman Utekar said, “I can do only if Katrina understands my language. Do you think Katrina will look like a small town heroine? If we get a good script, I would love to work with Vicky and Katrina.”

He also added, “I wouldn’t get them onboard this time because Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is in a different space and the aura and personality Katrina has I personally didn’t feel she can look like a middle-class joint family daughter-in-law. If there is anything in the future that will suit them then why not.”

Earlier, news agency ANI had quoted Laxman as saying about the film, “This movie is close to my heart. It is a story that will resonate with audiences across the country. It is a film that is a perfect family watch that promises to entertain you throughout.”

Katrina was last seen in the horror comedy film Phone Bhoot alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter. She will be next seen in the upcoming action-thriller film Tiger 3 opposite actor Salman Khan.

The film is all set to hit the theatres on the occasion of Diwali 2023.
